I believe that your capacity to feel amazing is greater than you ever imagined.
More than that, I know that you can and should feel safe and comfortable in your own body. No matter how many years you’ve struggled, or whatever you’ve struggled with, it’s never too soon or too late to make the sort of small shifts that can have a huge impact on your health, your sense of self and your overall well-being – once and for all.
I can believe these things, and know them to be true, because I’ve been through this process myself. In my case, it took me years of experimentation, but because I’ve been there, eaten the pie and got the T-shirt, I’ve worked out the nifty short-cuts for you. From here on in, all you’ve got to do is commit to making a few positive choices, sit back and enjoy the ride.
Most importantly, I have come to understand that your body wants you to be well and happy and will more than meet you half way once you give it the tools to do so.
But I didn’t always believe this. I spent many years ignoring what my body was telling me and dialing down my own needs by prioritising other people’s. For many reasons, I just didn’t get round to taking care of myself. And the price I paid for this neglect and lack of self compassion was that I didn’t feel the least bit amazing. In fact I felt pretty crappy most of the time.
There is no need to feel powerless
Back then, I was overweight, over-stressed and under-fulfilled . Nothing I tried seemed to make a difference. I felt unwell most of the time – I had achy joints, sleepless nights and zero energy. I was constantly getting headaches, colds and allergic reactions. I was exhausted, and dragged myself around feeling hopeless.
The more I tried to take back control of the situation, the more miserable I became. As my life felt neither satisfying nor authentic, the same few pounds came and went over and over again, and the other symptoms of ill-health slowly got worse. I was confused by all the conflicting information around nutrition, and although I was constantly battling and depriving myself of this, or that, I never seemed to make any progress. I was beginning to feel powerless, and I was scared that maybe this was it. I was scared that my life was just going to slowly unravel into old age.
There had to be a better way. Slowly at first, I began to invest time into working out what would really make me feel better, not only in my body but in spirit too. At first I blundered around, experimenting with all sorts of different ways of moving, eating and living. Eventually, almost imperceptibly, the penny began to drop and, as I started to work out the real connection between mind and body, the weight and illness started to melt away. No more aches and pains, no more exhaustion, no more depression, no more need for baggy tops. To say I felt transformed is an understatement and I would love for you to feel that sense of freedom as well. It has taken me nearly 60 years to work this out, but there’s no need for you to wait that long!
As I stepped back into my own power, it stopped just being about my journey to health, and more about what I could do for others. I took myself off to Nutrition School to really learn, and understand how everyone could benefit from the truths that were transforming my life.
Power up the Real You!
My big learning? There’s no need for you to sell yourself short and you deserve to feel amazing! That spare-tyre, that low self-esteem, the mood swings, the aches and pains; none of them are obligatory .
I’ve learned that feeling great doesn’t need to be difficult or overwhelming; your body loves you and wants you to be well and happy. You only have to return the favour, and listen to what it is telling you and you will soon discover that those aches and niggles, that extra weight and all those times you’ve felt off par are not there to make you feel miserable, they are there to show you the way forward.
But I understand only too well that sometimes the messages come through a bit garbled and the signs can be difficult to read. By de-constructing and de-coding those messages, I can meet you where you are and guide you to where you want to be. Often what is required is very simple. But there’s a big difference between ‘simple’ and ‘easy’, sometimes we need a mentor and ally to help us do what we know we ought to do.
So, as your Health Coach I will work with you to develop a sensible, ‘do-able’, prioritised action plan and then hold you accountable to your own goals, providing support and alternative strategies when the going gets tough. Along the way I will provide practical tools that will simplify and de-mystify your relationship with your own health.
We are all unique and our bodies each have a different story to tell. I wonder what yours is trying to tell you right now?
Wishing you health, success and great happiness!
